This is an exciting opportunity to join the City of Marion as the Manager, Development & Regulatory Services, reporting to the General Manager City Development.  This role provides strategic leadership relating to planning policy and ensures assessment, enforcement and inspections of development applications occurs in line with the Planning, Development and Infrastructure Act 2016. This includes supporting the operation and servicing of the Marion Council Assessment Panel.

The role also leads the environment health and community safety areas including public health, environmental health, animal and parking management, expiation and infringement notices, supported residential facilities licensing and monitoring, and graffiti management.

To be successful in the role, you will be a strong leader and relationship builder who is politically astute and who can work cross functionally to drive innovation and efficiencies in the provision of expert strategic advice on planning policy having regard to build form, urban design and activation, social determinants of health, demography, population forecasting, and environmental and infrastructure projects.

This is a pivotal role which requires:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Planning Development and Infrastructure Act 2016 and associated legal processes and systems.
  • Knowledge of Development Assessment processes, Building Standards and Regulations.
  • Knowledge of Policy Planning and Development Plan Review processes.
  • Highly effective communication and interpersonal skills, with capability to work closely with the leadership team, customers and other key stakeholders.
  • Ability to effectively manage competing deadlines and strategically prioritise projects and tasks to deliver exceptional customer service.

To be considered for this role you will have a degree level qualification in a relevant discipline and/or demonstrated experience at a senior management level.
