Human Resources & Industrial Relations Manager – Lutheran Homes Barossa

Lutheran Homes Barossa is one of the larger Aged Care facilities outside the metropolitan area in South Australia, situated in the picturesque township of Tanunda in the heart of the Barossa Valley. With 200 employees, Lutheran Homes Barossa offers a high standard of independent living accommodation in 140 units, and a state-of-the-art 120 room Residential Aged Care Facility.

Reporting to the CEO, the HR & IR Manager provides expert advice, direction and practical support to management and staff on operational human resources, industrial relations, performance management, and people development, ensuring the most effective utilisation of human resources for the purposes of achieving strategic business objectives.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Developing strategies to boost organisational culture and becoming an employer of choice within the aged care sector.
  • Reviewing and renewing current status of Enterprise Agreement and relevant awards.
  • Reviewing and developing effective recruitment, selection and induction procedures and providing support to managers in the filling of vacancies
  • Consulting with all stakeholders to effectively review and develop all relevant HR and IR policies, procedures and documentation.
  • Actively supporting leaders and their employees in resolving employee relations concerns, grievances and performance management issues.
  • Working with the management team to design, develop and coordinate effective training programs and ensure that all compliance requirements are met
  • Managing and maintaining effective performance review processes.

As the successful candidate, you will be tertiary qualified and have a minimum of five years’ previous experience in a similar role within a medium-to-large sized business. You will also display a high level of competence in dealing with general HR issues as well as industrial and employee relations matters.

On a personal level, you will be well organised with an ability to develop and nurture productive and respectful working relationships with people at all levels. You will also be an excellent communicator with a natural affinity in effectively influencing, networking, negotiating, counseling and mediating when required. Your strong commercial acumen and ability to understand business requirements and culture will also be integral requirements for this role, as will being able to demonstrate a high degree of confidentiality. Experience within the aged care sector is preferred but not essential.
